Affiliate Progress – Come on Spain!

8 Jul

Image Courtesy of Gilad.romApologies to any of my readers who hail from The Netherlands, but since we are heading over to Spain early on Saturday morning we are in for one big party on Sunday when Spain take on Holland in the world cup final. So come on Spain! It would be rude not to support them since we will be drinking their beer!

Also, if Spain don’t do it, Pulpo Paul (the psychic octopus) could soon be making a re-appearance in a tapas bowl! Which would be a shame for such a talented creature.

Anyway, I will be totally offline for a week and am really looking forward to a good rest (apart from all the painting work I have waiting for me over there!). When I return I hope to start blogging about my new experiments in the wonderful world of Twitter. As with my other affiliate activities I hope to chart this right from the outset for other beginners to follow, and also to draw out helpful suggestions and tactics via comments.

All the best, see you in a week or so!

Affiliate Progress Report – A Look Back at Quarter Two 2010

Affiliate Progress Report

I’m actually quite pleased with my affiliate marketing progress this last quarter. I am learning steadily, and forming a more closely focused strategy. Actual income is still very low, but that is also as expected because of the number of projects I’m restricting myself to and the need to develop those projects further.

Only one major fly in the ointment, which is Google’s refusal to expose one of my lovely new sites to the gaze of the general public. With so few projects for me to experiment with, this is getting a little annoying after four and a half months, but there is not too much to be done about it I guess.

So here is a brief run down of my achievements for this quarter, achievements against my 2010 targets, and new goals for Q3 and beyond. (more…)

Passive Income – Freedom or Finance?

18 Jun

Passive Income DreamsI’m in curious mode today, and was wondering what it is that motivates you, my esteemed reader,  in setting up a passive income on-line?

If you are like me and are currently trying to develop your own passive income portfolio, then you will know just how much hard work is involved and how long it takes to see signs of success. In one of my previous posts – Why do You Want to be an Affiliate Marketer? – I said that unless you had real motivation that you will probably have little success on-line. There are obviously many valid reasons for wanting to earn your living on-line, and almost as many ways of achieving this, but in aiming to earn money using more passive methods (ie that continue earning with little maintenance once set up) you are aiming for a rather special goal. You are also writing off many other ways of earning on-line. So why would you do this?

I want to explore three of the possible reasons below, and then ask for your own specific motivations.

AdSense Optimizer Plug-in Review

11 Jun

Google AdSense OptimizerAs one of the goals of my latest project was to try and increase my AdSense earnings, I wanted to find a way of managing the adverts with minimal additional work as I add content.

Some WordPress themes have built in features for this, but as the theme I chose for my new blog was without them, I needed to find some other way of handling my AdSense ads within my content and sidebars. (more…)
