AdSense Optimizer Plug-in Review

Google AdSense OptimizerAs one of the goals of my latest project was to try and increase my AdSense earnings, I wanted to find a way of managing the adverts with minimal additional work as I add content.

Some WordPress themes have built in features for this, but as the theme I chose for my new blog was without them, I needed to find some other way of handling my AdSense ads within my content and sidebars. (more…)

How Niche is Your Niche?

Perfect NicheDefining the perfect niche for your website or blog is a skill that all affiliate marketers need to work on and develop, particularly if you want to carve out your success using SERPs traffic. Many types of business only need to identify a single niche that they want to attack, but as an affiliate marketer in the online world, it is a trick you will probably have to successfully repeat many times over. But look on the bright side, practice makes perfect!

In this post, I will go through the current thought process I use whilst selecting a niche, and how I might apply this to different types of project. For me this is most definitely still a work in progress, and I learn new things with every site and blog I set up. (more…)

Are Blog Comments Important?

happy blog commenterI’ve read several different discussions recently on whether or not attracting blog comments is important and how important or not your regular commenters are to your blog. One discussion on DennisEdell.com attracted a good range of views. Some thought that most commenters were really only there for a backlink and since they were unlikely to be the visitors that actually buy anything via affiliate links, they were therefore of limited importance. Others (myself included) felt that commenters are very important as they add to the sense of community and life of a blog.

But what if there were other benefits from your commenters, what if they could actually gain you traffic! (more…)

Controlling Your Online Workload

Affiliate WorkloadI was reading a post on Moon Hussain’s blog Experiments in Passive Income recently which set me off thinking about how we manage and control our online workloads. Moon raises the point that had she known the amount of work involved and the difficulties to be overcome before she started her blog, she might possibly never have even started it in the first place.

I’m sure that’s a feeling that a lot of us have had, whether in relation to a blog or to one of our other affiliate marketing projects. So what is the key to managing that workload so that we can keep progressing without things getting on top of us?

Affiliate Marketing Terms De-Mystified

Affiliate AcronymsAffiliate marketing is no different to most other modern day careers with respect to the number of acronyms and mysterious terms that are bandied about. Sometimes people will use these to bamboozle you or make themselves sound clever, but mostly it is just a shorthand to allow subjects to be discussed easily. Either way, if you are a newcomer these affiliate marketing terms and acronyms might seem like a different language, and one which you will certainly need to get to grips with in order to succeed.
